toco toco TV Features Soichi Terada

Legendary composer and producer Soichi Terada has recently become a household name again in the dance music scene. While he is better known for scoring video games like Ape Escape, the release of Sounds from the Far East (2015) —a compilation of Terada’s rare and hard-to-find tracks from the ’90s — has brought renewed interest and acclaim for his own music and his label Far East Recording.

Toco toco TV just released a short documentary about the Japanese house music pioneer. In this feature, Terada discusses sampling sumo sounds and Buddhist chants in his music, where he tests out new compositions, connecting with Larry Levan and his Omodaka project.
