One of Japan’s most prolific contemporary artists and photographers – Nobuyoshi Araki (荒木 経惟) a.k.a. Arākī (アラーキー), is given the spotlight in NOWNESS’s latest edition of Photographers in Focus. Directed by Italian film maker Andrea Cossu, the short segment paints a portrait of the interesting character that is Arākī and a glimpse into his process. Discussing experiences of life and learning through photography, the 77-year old Arākī also presents his intimate contemplations on love, loneliness, and happiness. With over 500 books published, Nobuyoshi Araki is currently celebrated in a solo exhibition at the Fondazione Bisazza, where Andrea Cossu’s project and film can be seen in its entirety.
