“Apartamento” Republish Interview with Jim Walrod

Originally published in 2012, Apartamento re-release their issue 10 interview the late Jim Walrod. Described as “the most famous interior designer you have never heard of,” the New Jersey native spent his formative years in Downtown New York. His first job, at the original Fiorucci store (secured on the recommendation of Andy Warhol), became his entry point into the world of design and the NYC cultural scene. Obsessed with mid to late-twentieth century objects (the Memphis group a particular passion), Walrod’s encyclopaedic knowledge and keen eye for the period’s best creators landed him work with the likes of Jean Nouvel, Steven Alan, The Standard Hotel, Thompson LES as well as interior designer for long-time friend, Mike D among many other high-profile names.
