Airbnb Launch Community-run Wooden Cabin in Yoshino, Japan

Airbnb open a beautiful, wood-heavy cabins an hour’s drive from Osaka in the small town of Yoshino. A rural area on the decline, the building is part of an on-going revitalisation programme, this striking cedar wood cottage built from locally sourced materials has been entirely constructed by Yoshino carpenters. Designed by Airbnb’s creative agency, Samara, with help from designer Go Hasegawa, the cabin is managed by the local community, illustrating how rural tourism can be both financially beneficial and low impact.
