It's shaping up to be a busy year for Kiko Kostadinov that kicks off with a presentation of his A/W 2017 Collection at London Fashion Week Men's. Titled 'Classeless' the collection continues Kostadinov's modern utilitarian aesthetic with a keen focus on tailoring and construction. Standouts include car coats with twisted collars, tactical rain parkas, and collarless BDU Jackets. Not to be overshadowed is the introduction of knitwear as well as various trouser silhouettes that come finished with belted pouches. It's hard to get a proper judgment of Kostadinov's work without seeing it in person because the devil is usually in the details, which almost certainly includes the use of some of the finest fabrics available along with intricate cutting and detailing— here's to hoping that distribution will be expanded from last season.
Along with running his burgeoning eponymous label, Kostadinov was recently tapped to be Creative Director of a new contemporary sub-line by Japanese owned, UK heritage brand Mackitosh. Stay tuned for coverage of Mackintosh 0001 which will debut shortly at Paris Fashion Week, and find my in-depth interview with Kostadinov in Issue 03 of intelligence Magazine.
