I was surprised and excited to see one of the lesser known styles in the immense archives of Vans - the Style #86 also known as the Lampin'- get a full scale release recently. Originally released in 1993, the shoe took cues from the immensely popular 'Airwalk One' and was made in the precarious years when skate shoes were making the transition from minimal vulcanized models to the chunky technical shoes that would gain prominence through the early 2000's (culminating in models such as the infamous Osiris D3). This isn't the first time the Lampin' has returned- it was used on one of the less hyped Supreme collaborations a few years ago and has also been available exclusively in Japan for the past year or so. With 'Jazz-Stripe' free, two-tone suede uppers, the Lampin' is easily one of my favorite silhouettes from the company and after much effort to get a pair from Japan I am eager to stock up. Pick them up now directly from Van's or select dealers including Dover Street Market.
