sacai's appeal, at least for me has always been it's deliberate departure from stereotypical Japanese fashion formulas. The meticulous craftsmanship and consideration to minute details- synonymous with Japan remain, but the fabrics and patterns used are more reminiscent of high end European makes. This FW16 collection is especially strong with a deconstructed Americana and preppy aesthetic infused with rich colour palettes and multi layered items showing off custom grid patterns and micro check embroidery that probably require an insane amount of man hours to pull off.
HAVEN just got their first delivery from this collection, and this drawcord hem overshirt is a clear standout. The dense flannel comes lined and slightly padded in a horizontal hourglass quilt, and the cochineal dye and bleach treated pattern is the strongest throughout the whole range. Despite it's hefty $1,400CAD price tag, I don't see them staying on retailer shelves very long.
