Nepenthes's sister brand South2 West8 find's inspiration in the 1970's and is based on different outdoor sports such as hunting, fishing or mountain biking. For their 2016 collection, the Sapporo based label released a unique 'Tenkara Shirt', made in Black Waxed Cotton as well as Hunter Camouflage in regular twill cotton.
With this season's "Fish And Bike" theme in mind, the term "Tenkara" describes a particular style of fly fishing unique to Japan. The simple style relies on the skills of the fisherman rather than complex equipment and has been performed in Japan for over 100 years in order to catch fish in mountain streams. The jacket respects the traditional design of fly fishing apparel with characteristic elements such as multiple front/back pockets, rod tab, and a short cut design while modern updates such as military style buttons, spread collar and slightly slimmed tailoring make the jacket wearable in the city as well as the stream.
