Currently showing at David Zwirner Gallery New York, The Democratic Forest presents ‘80s road-trip scenes from the US and beyond, the work of legendary American photographer William Eggleston. To mark the show, Steidl and David Zwirner books produce a hardcover catalogue featuring 73 images, many of which have remained unseen until now. Rich in colour, cinematic in their framing, the Memphis-born artist captures the everyday from anonymous locations across his travels. Some distinctly American, others harder to place, each shot suggests the beginning of a curious scene; storytelling forever at the heart of Eggleston’s work. Available to purchase online, The Democratic Forest runs until December 17 at 537 West 20th Street, NYC.
