The World's First Wooden Football Stadium by Zaha Hadid Architects

Zaha Hadid Architects, the namesake of the late Zaha Hadid, has prevailed in a competition to design the new football stadium of Forest Green Rovers.

Forest Green Rovers are a football team based in Gloucestershire, England and have commissioned the Zara Hadid firm to design a 5000 capacity stadium that will be constructed solely from wood. Moreover, the stadium aims to be the most 'environmentally friendly' structure we've seen - relying heavily on natural and renewable materials and clean energy sources. It's projected that the carbon content of the stadium will be the lowest of any stadium and the aim is to reach carbon neutral, or a negative standard.

The importance of this stadium is not just the beauty of the design or the ingenuity of those putting it into motion but also that businesses and industries are taking notice and making inroads to curb climate change through brilliant, sustainable designs.
