When not browsing for jackets, fall ultimately finds me searching out new snowboard gear for the upcoming season. After decades of loud colours and wacky prints, there finally seems to be a growing consciousness around well-designed and minimalist ski and snowboard gear. A brand that recently caught my eye was Fjell^, a sustainable and future-minded Norwegian company based in the mountainous western coast. What I love about these boards is they're simplicity, with only two colours and single brand logo on top and bottom. Fjell^ focuses on what counts; the design, shaping and high quality manufacturing of their boards, which they are able to test in their own backyard- the coastal mountains of Norway. The split-board is a real standout for me and conjures up images of sailing through waist deep powder in Whistler or Hokkaido.
Alongside hardware, the brand will also be offering premium lifestyle goods and accessories that are equally adept for mountain and city life. Included is a cap with classic American maker Ebbets Field and a luxurious 100% Norweigian wool blanket made in collaboration with Røros Tweed. With resorts opening in the coming weeks you can find Fjell boards directly from their online shop.
